Database Administrator and Developer
Noetix Research Inc. is currently seeking a database administrator/developer starting as soon as possible.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Certified Oracle DBA with 2 years experience
• Unix/Linux and Windows System Administrator, Web Administrator
• Ability to adapt quickly to any situation/environment as well as analyze and solve problems promptly.
• Resourceful team worker.
• Ability to successfully communicate, organize and present materials clearly and manage time efficiently.
• Knowledge of environmental data as well as the ability to manage it in the spatial domain.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Databases:
Oracle 9i/10g, Oracle RMAN, Oracle Backups, Oracle Networking, Oracle Tuning, Relational Database Design and Management, Oracle 9i RAC, Oracle OCP certification would be an asset

Programming:
PL/SQL, SQL, Java, JSP, Servlets, CGI, Perl, XML, XSLT, HTML, Java Script

Platforms:
UNIX, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server

Duties:
• Head Oracle Database Administrator for CCIN @ UW
• Head Linux System Administrator for CCIN @ UW
• Manage and maintain Oracle database operations and associated hardware platforms.
• Manage application and database security and access
• Install and configure database and upgrades (including patches) when required
• Design and implement backup & recovery procedures
• Logical and physical database design
• Write SQL, PL/SQL procedures and packages for applications
• Resolve application infrastructure problems and issues
• Manage and maintain tools in Linux and Windows server
• Monitor the health of all Oracle related software
• Make recommendations for the ongoing stability of the IT environment
• Support integrated WEB based applications

This is a fulltime position. It is with the Canadian Cryosphere Information Network located on the Waterloo campus
